Past Projects

Please see my resume for a complete list of websites and other projects I have done.

Alumni Profile Website

http://envs.uoregon.edu/alumni/
Spring 2006
Project: Database and interface design, integration into existing website template
Skills involved: HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL
For the Environmental Studies program at the University of Oregon, this website is a place where alumni can share information about what they did during their time at the U of O, as well as share about where they have gone since then. It allows current or prospective students of this program to find out at what kind of jobs people work after coming out of the program.

Cache-Cachet

http://www.cachecachet.com
Winter 2006
Project: Website design, eCommerce application
Skills involved: HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL
This website allows visitors to purchase items from the website with an intuitive, home-grown shopping cart interface. The owner can log in and view purchase details in order to fulfill the orders, without requiring any knowledge of website or database systems.

The Metis Center

http://www.themetiscenter.com
Fall 2005
Project: Website design, logo & stationary, custom web application
Skills involved: HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL
This is a website for a new business called the Metis Center. This project involves creating a logo and stationary for the business, and also designing the website. I built a custom calendaring application which is used for scheduling times in the available rooms.

Abundant Yarn & Dyeworks

http://www.abundantyarn.com
2005
Project: Website design, extremely customized eCommerce solution
Skills involved: HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL
This is a website for a new yarn store in Portland. I designed this website, and wrote several custom dynamic content pages for the site. The owner of the store can log in to the website and update the front page, the event calendar, send out a mass mailing of the current newsletter, and add items to the online store, and she doesn't need to know the first thing about creating websites! I am currently working on getting more of her products online, as well as streamlining the integration between her point of sales software and the website.

Duo Con Brio

http://www.duoconbrio.com
2005
Project: Website design, online contract
Skills involved: HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, MySQL
I redesigned this website to improve the feel and functionality. There is a paper contract for service, which I converted into a web page, complete with auto-calculating fields. The calculations happen in Javascript, and the contract is submitted into a MySQL database for later reference.
I just added a new feature to the contract which calculates the distance from your event to Duo Con Brio based solely on the zip code of the event. This involves a large database of US zipcodes and their corresponding latitude and longitude coordinates, and a formula for calculating the Great Circle distance between two coordinates.

ASUO - University of Oregon Student Government

Summer 2004
Project: Customized content management system
Skills involved: HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL
I created a highly customized content management system for the ASUO. It allows anyone in their office to log in and update the content of the various sections of the website. Each person who will be making changes to the website has a unique login ID, so all changes can be tracked. The administrators of the website can control who has access to edit each individual section of the website.

Portland Waldorf High School

Summer 2003
Project: Database for managing student records
Skills involved: Microsoft Access Database
The high school had just graduated its first class of seniors, and was in great need of a computerized system for keeping track of students' grades and printing out transcripts. For the first class of seniors, all the grades had to be compiled by hand, and transcripts manually typed out. I set to work designing the database that would keep track of exactly the information they need, customized to the format of the curriculum at the school. It generates nice-looking transcripts for each student. The database has been running successfully for 5 years now.
